MRW Environmental LLC. considers the identification of both State and Federally listed species to be vital information for any project, in that the regulations regarding listed species are expansive and carry heavy regulatory penalties. MRW Environmental LLC. diligently assesses each project for listed species by reviewing published data and onsite evaluations.
We have expertise to conduct surveys for most taxonomic groups including vascular plants, birds, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians. We use a combination of traditional approaches such as transect surveys and auditory surveys, but also employ the latest technology when appropriate. Two examples include the use of thermal imaging cameras for mammal surveys and acoustic detection and identification (ANABAT) equipment for bats. Surveys for endangered bats are routinely required for projects in forested areas. Prior to the development of ANABAT technology required labor-intensive and time-consuming mist netting. We can use ANABAT equipment to quickly nd easily determine which bat species and present in an area. We coordinate with the U.S. Fish and Wildife Service regarding the results of the surveys and if endangered bats are present, determine the best course of action for our clients.
